I have known Academia right from the start. When I was at University, I met Mike at a Technology show at the NEC. He introduced me to Autodesk and I was given my first taste of Inventor (version 6 I think…). From there I started work at Thomas Cowley a few years later. From the support and software I received from Mike I naturally called him up and asked him to quote us on the new version of Inventor (version 8?). Mike arranged for a weeks worth of training at the Man and Machine offices, from there I spoke to several of the trainers, and along with Mike organised a train the teacher event at TCHS.
Run forward a few years and we have another project underway. Once again Academia have been involved from the start. A site visit (and we are half way up the country!) from Academia shared the vision for the new Creative and Media suite. Academia have provided us with extremely competitive quotes over the years, coupled with unrivalled support the company have always exceeded their remit. Currently they have worked with various members of staff at all levels in the school to simplify our licensing, lower our global spending on software, and provide clear and defined advice on asset management software.
Ontop of this Academia have invested time and money in supporting our students. From the initial installation of the earlier Autodesk software, students have benefited from large discounts, in school competitions, and yearly awards for creativity. For me this is a big bonus, students get to work on extra curricular projects with proper useful prizes (instead of the usual book tokens!).
When new staff have joined the department Academia have ensured that they are welcomed to the partnership by sending out welcome packs, demo software, and adding a personal touch by telephone.
Over the years Academia have worked tirelessly to ensure that the latest software has been available for our staff to try by sending out evaluation copies, demos, and in some cases delivering free staff copies.
