ABBYY FineReader is a highly intelligent OCR (optical character recognition) software for text recognition and creating editable and searchable electronic files from scanned paper documents, PDFs and digital photographs. ABBYY FineReader 10 gives you the power to unlock data in documents and images and transform them into manageable and accessible information.

In order to better meet your needs or the needs of your educational establishment, ABBYY developed different product editions with different sets of features and flexible licensing schemes:

• Professional Edition - for individual users and business professionals,
• Corporate Edition - for small and medium-sized businesses or individual departments looking for a cost-efficient OCR software with workgroup functionality,
• Site License Edition - for large enterprises and authorities which need individual and flexible license volumes.

System Requirements:

• PC with 1 GHz or higher
  
• Microsoft Windows 7, Microsoft Windows Vista®, Microsoft Windows Server 2003, Microsoft Windows Server 2008, Microsoft Windows XP;
  
• To work with localised interfaces, corresponding language support is required.
  
• 512 MB available RAM. In a multiprocessor system, an additional 256 MB of RAM is required for each additional processor core;
  
• 650 MB for typical program installation and 650 MB for program operation;
  
• TWAIN- or WIA-compatible scanner, digital camera or fax-modem (optional);
  
• Video card and monitor (1024×768 or higher);
  
• Keyboard, mouse or other pointing device.

Licence Types
The products offered by ABBYY through Academia are available in the following licensing models:

• Singles Licence
  Ideal for individual purchases. Either a single boxes product or an electronic software download (ESD) can be purchased
  
• Volume Per Seat Licences
  Ideal for mid-sized companies or departments requiring regular use of the software. A Per Seat Licence offers one serial number per seat and functions like a normal licence with discounts offered according to the amount of licences purchased. No additional contract is required. Either Stand Alone or Concurrent.
• Volume Site Licences
  Ideal for large corporations with decentralised networks. A Site Licence is a licence for volume usage based on a single serial number. Site Licences can be deployed automatically
  from a central location using an automated roll-out scenario. Installation is possible via command line, using Microsoft Systems Management Server (SMS), or using Active Directory. The number of licences in usage is defined in the contract and the licence certificate and can be easily increased at any time.
